In
NSW less than 1% of sexual assaults lead to a conviction.
Increasingly
those convicted are appealing on minor points of law.
For
most women their cases do not get to court because she has
no chance of success under the current legal system.
To
prove her story the woman has to submit to cross examination
which aims to degrade, humiliate and shame her.
The
NSW Criminal Justice system is
letting Women down.
We
demand:
Immediate
changes to the current justice system.
Formation
of a high level task force to propose a new system for investigating
sexual assault which is fair, just and respectful.
