One day
workshop for professionals working with sexual assault survivors.
Course covers Acute and Post Traumatic Stress Disorder and how
to assist clients who are in crisis.
Participants will
learn about Acute Stress Disorder, Post Traumatic Stress Disorder
(P.T.S.D.) and how to assist clients to deal with the impacts
of sexual assault. The workshop is for professionals and para
professionals, and students working with sexual assault survivors.
Learning

Participants
will learn about the:

impact of sexual assault and how this affects the psychological
and social well-being of individuals.

Therapies
utilised with sexual assault survivors and the crisis intervention
model in particular.
- Myths and realities
of sexual assault
- Incidences of sexual
assault in NSW
- Impacts of sexual
assault
- Acute Stress Disorder
- Post Traumatic Stress
Disorder (P.T.S.D.)
- Crisis Intervention
– model and application
- Do’s and don’ts
when responding to someone who has been sexually assaulted, and
- Getting help
Referral information
to NSW Rape Crisis Centre and specialist sexual assault services
in your area is included in the training. Each participant will
receive an information kit, a CD with further information and published
articles.
This workshop will assume
counsellor training and therapeutic knowledge.

NSW Rape Crisis Centre (located in Drummoyne)
Training held at the
NSW Rape Crisis Centre is for a maximum group of ten people.
Please

your details to training@nswrapecrisis.com.au.
When we have eight expressions of interest we will set a date.
Cost:
$260 per person, includes lunch and refreshments.
If you have particular
requirements at your workplace the workshop can be designed to
meet individual needs. Participants can be from one workplace
or a number of services.
Cost:
$200
per participant with a maximum of 20 participants. Minimum fee
is $3,500. Additional charges apply for workshops outside the
metropolitan area.
